Seeing work in the 15 galleries of the huge Saatchi Gallery was a highlight of my time away. This place is very hard to beat in terms of presentation, work, atmosphere, staff and website.
The following are my pics - refer to the website for very good coverage of all the artists on view currently and when I was there.
The two survey exhibitions were Body Language highlighting emerging artists and New Order British Art Today
This is situated in Sloan Square - chi chi in the extreme and fascinating to observe
Didn't get to the cafe restaurant
The front of the gallery - the refurbishment of this historic building is superb
These huge works are fantastic and so painterly by young Dutch artist Helen Verhoenen
The paint work is wonderfully fresh and confident.
This work was in survey exhibition entitled Body language and is well documented with notes on each artist on the website.
These are amazing photographs by Denis Tarasov
Chantal Joffe from Body Language
Chantal Joffe - a wonderful wall of smaller works all from found imagery, fresh and expressive.
Another fantastic suite of works
Fantastic painting - New Order British Art Today
Steve Allen in New Order British Art Today - finished January 16th, we were fortunate to see it.
Steve Allen - fantastic
New Order British Art Today - Charles Billingham - again so fresh and effortless work
This work is by Charles Billingham - my favourite! So impressed by the relaxed use of found imagery from the bastions of british art history. Billingham's source is Thomas Rowlandson the fantastic c18th satirist. Having been to the National Portrait Gallery which has many official portraits of George IV it was great to see this work
New Order British Art Today - These works are by Mariko Kudo - beautiful painting
These works from Body Language by Henry Taylor, Los Angeles
Henry Taylor
Directly across from the gallery - playing fields of a private school
About 4:30pm
The facade and front entrance of the Gallery
This is one of the most popular galleries in London.
Check out the web site - fantastic.
